ALONG THE JOURNEY
You will articulate your ideas to the world, make your own contribution, learn something new, receive feedback from other people around the world and decide whether or not to bring your idea to a real project and find partners to work with. If you have accomplished something, you are welcome to show it to the world. At some point you may even feel the need to go back to school to have some formal training on a subject, the difference is now you have a clear understanding on why you are learning what you are learning.

Actually many of them may not go very far. But this is exactly how it works: Trial and error. No one can tell which idea will be the next Google or Facebook. If we don’t try, we will never know. Even if this idea is not going anywhere, you will still learn something and make connections with like-minded people then get ready for your next idea. On the other side, the moment you start to record and develop your idea, the moment the idea starts to evolve. One thing leads to another and it may lead you to somewhere you cannot even imagine now and end up with a big surprise to yourself. Isn’t doing something productive or even creative another kind of fun? If you do it for fun, then anything can be fun. If you do it just for a living, anything can be boring. Everyone who has a good idea (small or big) and takes action on it deserves a chance to be an innovator. No matter how old you are, it’s never too late. But it won’t be easy. We can only help you get started, what’s going to happen next is totally up to you.

We realize that action takes time, resources and various skillsets. It is very hard for ordinary people, especially with full time jobs, to possess all of these in themselves to transform an idea into impact.
GoTotheMars aims to bring people together to contribute whatever they have (e.g. idea, time, skills, fund) to develop an idea they are interested in. Furthermore, GoTotheMars provides a platform for you to make more meaningful connections with other like-minded people that you may not be able to meet with in your daily life. GoTotheMars is also a journey of practicing this philosophy. Where is this journey leading us to? WHY NAME THIS WEBSITE GOTOTHEMARS ?
Finally, you may be curious about why we name this website GoTotheMars. It’s actually a metaphor. Just like the PCs or laptops over the world combined will exceed the power of all the supercomputers. We can imagine the collective effort of developing our ideas will eventually overtake the amount of the work required to go to the Mars.
This is why this website comes into being. We hope this site will be a place of the people, by the people and for the people who want to create something innovative out of their daily experience, through local or global collaboration.
